Discrete Mathematics Lecture Course

This course is particularly focused on applications of probabilistic methods in discrete mathematics. The book "The Probabilistic Method" by Alon and Spencer is a very nice resource for the material in this course.

The assessment for this course is based on solutions to exercises presented to the class (20%), a homework test (40%) and a final exam (40%). More details are given here.

The lecture notes are here, and will be updated regularly.

Here is a list of exercises with solutions. This will be updated weekly.

The date for the homework test will be finalised later, but expect this to be in early June.

The final exam will be held on Thursday June 27th in HS3. The exam will start at 09.30 and lasts for 2 hours.

Some students asked about other courses and knowledge that may be helpful. There are no compulsory prerequisites, but it would be helpful to be comfortable with some graph theory. Here is a link to some lecture notes from a graph theory course I taught in SS 2022.
