Discrete Mathematics Lecture Course

This course is particularly focused on applications of probabilistic methods in discrete mathematics. The book "The Probabilistic Method" by Alon and Spencer is a very nice resource for the material in this course.

The assessment for this course is based on solutions to exercises presented to the class (20%), a homework test (40%) and a final exam (40%). More details are given here.

Here is the final version of the lecture notes.

Here is a list of exercises with solutions.

The homework test is here. The deadline was Tuesday 11th June at 1.45pm.

The final exam will be held on Thursday June 27th in HS3. The exam will start at 09.30 and lasts for 2 hours. A retake exam is scheduled for Friday 12th July. Please write me an email as soon as possible if you intend to take this exam, so that I can arrange a time and a room. A third and final re take exam is expected to take place in early September.

Some students asked about other courses and knowledge that may be helpful. There are no compulsory prerequisites, but it would be helpful to be comfortable with some graph theory. Here is a link to some lecture notes from a graph theory course I taught in SS 2022.
